According to Latvian Foreign Minister Krisjanis Karins, Russia will remain a serious military threat to Europe even after Ukraine's final victory in the war.

Why Ukraine's victory in war with Russia does not guarantee peace

The head of Latvian diplomacy is convinced that even a positive outcome of the Russian-Ukrainian war will not save Europe from the threat posed by Russia.

He also predicted that the aggressor country would begin to rebuild its armed forces even after a crushing defeat in Ukraine.

Krisjanis Karins called on the international community not to forget that the Russian government is built on an imperialist ideology.

According to him, Putin's team will constantly look for an illusory external "enemy" for its people, as it cannot improve the welfare of its population.

All the cards are being played to find an external enemy and cultivate the idea that the collapse of the USSR was the greatest evil. Therefore, it is necessary to return the lost territories with a surplus. It is sad that this is no longer a war of the Kremlin. It has become a war supported by Russians. Russia continues its imperialist expansion and remains a threat to Europe, the Latvian Foreign Minister stressed.

Defeat of Ukraine in war will push Russia to new invasions

The minister warns that a victory for Russia in the war with Ukraine cannot be allowed under any circumstances, as Putin will then want to attack other countries.

That is why it is unacceptable. This is an attack not only on Ukraine and Europe. It is an attack on the order established after the Second World War, in which the rule of law, not force, plays a key role, explained Krisjanis Karins.

He is convinced that members of the Alliance need to take more and more care of their security.

The Baltic states realised this a long time ago, so they have been actively preparing for a possible war with Russia, as they understand that such a development is quite real.
