According to the head of the State Security Department of Lithuania, Dariusz Jauniškis, the Kremlin dictator and war criminal Vladimir Putin seeks a long-term confrontation with the Western countries, and part of this is the desire to seize Ukraine.

Putin prepares prolonged confrontation with the West

It is noted that on January 23, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda convened a meeting of the State Council on National Defense.

During the meeting, the heads of Lithuanian special services and intelligence reported on the critical threats to the country, mainly due to armed and hybrid aggression from the Russian Federation.

According to Daryus Jaunishkis, the criminal war launched by the Kremlin against Ukraine will remain a key factor shaping the agenda of security issues on the territory of European countries.

At the same time, the head of the State Security Department of Lithuania noted that it is unlikely that the nature of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine will change this year. Most likely, the Russian occupiers will continue to act according to the scenario of last year.

Of course, we do not see any prerequisites for freezing the conflict or a solution, any desire on the part of Putin or his administration in this direction, — emphasizes Jaunishkis.

He noted that the Kremlin dictator has not given up his desire to destroy Ukraine and establish absolute control over the occupied territories.

Jaunishkis added that, in addition, Putin seeks to maintain confrontation with the West in the long term, using a wide range of tools.

What is known about the Kremlin's attempts to destabiliіe the situation in Europe

In particular, the head of the State Security Department notes that, among other things, these are attempts to influence with the aim of undermining the support of Ukraine from Western partners with the help of various PsyOps and cyber-attacks, nuclear blackmail and provocative incidents on the territory of NATO countries.

Of course, illegal migration near NATO's eastern borders remains a potential lever of pressure, which can be used by both Russia and Belarus, the Lithuanian Security Service chief notes.

He also did not rule out that the Kremlin would increase the pressure, trying to ensure security guarantees for the Kaliningrad region, which Russians consider their weak spot.

And, of course, we can assume possible aggressive rhetoric, precisely because of the situation with the Kaliningrad region, — suggests Jaunishkis.

He also believes that Russia, among other things, will try to encourage and connect to the process of the global anti-Western mood in the south and form a coalition.

However, according to the head of the particular service, Lithuania's global situation is significantly affected by Russia and the conflict in the Central East.
