Macron promises to support Ukraine in new negotiations with Russia

France 2
Emmanuel Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged to provide further support to Ukraine so that it can conduct peace talks with Russia "under the best possible conditions".

What Macron said about aid to Ukraine

According to Macron, "we feel that some European countries are beginning to have doubts" about the assistance provided to Kyiv. He also mentioned the possible return of Donald Trump to the White House.

According to the French president, "in the coming months, we will have to make a choice" in this conflict.

We must make sure that Russia does not win, and this means continuing to support and strengthen the defence of Kyiv and its key points, Macron said.

According to him, the goal is for Ukraine "to be able to hold peace talks under the best possible conditions".

We will not leave Ukraine, the French president assured.

Macron again hints at dialogue with Putin: what does it mean

According to the French leader, he has not changed his number, so the Kremlin leader can easily call him if he so desires.

Igor Reiterovich is convinced that the French president is not looking for excuses for his contacts with the dictator.

The expert points out that Macron intends to respond to the Russian president's call if the Kremlin leader "has serious proposals for peace in Ukraine".

There is nothing surprising in his statement, I would not look for any betrayal here. Macron made a very important clarification that he is ready for negotiations provided that international law is respected. That is, Putin must first do everything to ensure that this law is respected, and only then can we talk about negotiations, the political scientist explained.
