The day before, the Solomyanskyi District Court of Kyiv extended the pretrial detention of Vyacheslav Boguslaiev, ex-president of the Motor Sich company, until April 18 without the right to bail.

Boguslaiev was kept in custody

Boguslaev's lawyer, Ruslan Volynets, said in a comment to "Suspilno" that this was the first session where the court was supposed to start considering the case on its merits, but there was not enough time.

At first, the court rejected the prosecutor's request to suspend one of the lawyers; the rest of the time, they considered the extension of the preventive measure.

The lawyer stated that an appeal is being prepared, at the same time Boguslaev's health is deteriorating sharply, as confirmed by the pre-trial detention center doctors.

The court decided to keep Boguslaiev in custody, fearing that he could hide, obstruct the investigation, influence witnesses, destroy and conceal evidence.

Boguslaiev case: what is known

Investigators note that between December 2017 and October 2022, Boguslaev and another official established the operation of the Motor Sichi unit in the temporarily occupied city of Snizhne, Donetsk region, aiding pro-Russian militants in the Donetsk region.

After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, they organised the supply of "Motor Sich" goods for the Russian Federation's military-industrial complex for over 72 million UAH.

Boguslaev was suspected of collaborating (Article 111-1) and aiding the aggressor state (Article 111-2), as well as assisting the activities of a terrorist organisation.

Also, after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he blocked the transfer of the helicopter to the Ukrainian military, ordering to remove the blades from it.

For this, Boguslaiev was suspected of obstructing the legal activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code). It is punishable by five to eight years in prison.

In October 2022, Boguslaiev was placed in custody.
