MP from the ruling parliamentary fraction "Servant of the People" Mariana Bezugla may be deprived of her post in the Verkhovna Rada due to calls for the resignation of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Gen.Valerii Zaluzhnyy.
What is known about the prospect of depriving Bezugla of a leadership position in the Verkhovna Rada
It is noted that Bezugla currently holds the position of deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.
"Batkivshchyna" MP Oleksiy Kucherenko has already filed an appeal to recall Bezugla from her post.
Kucherenko noted that he submitted an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, proposing to "immediately recall MP Mariana Bezugla from the position of deputy chairman of the Committee on National Security and Defense."
He attached a photocopy of the relevant appeal to his post, reminding him of Bezugla's recent statement regarding the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyy.
In his opinion, such statements are unacceptable, as they create tension in society and work to undermine the country's defense capabilities.
In addition, he noted that Bezugla "is not the first time publicly voicing low-content attacks and provocations against the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."
What is known about the deprivation of Bezugla from other leadership posts in the Verkhovna Rada
In addition, MP from "European Solidarity" Iryna Friz initiated depriving Bezugla of one more position — the head of the subcommittee on democratic civilian supervision and control of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security.
Friz added that a decision of the parliament is required to remove Bezugla from the position of deputy chairman of the committee, and a decision of the National Security Committee is sufficient to remove the subcommittee's leadership.
