The armed forces of Poland introduced increased security measures during the missile attack of Ukraine in the morning of January 13.

According to the Operations Directorate of the Armed Forces of Poland, in the morning of 13 January, there was increased activity of Russian long-range aviation, which is associated with the intention to strike at the territory of Ukraine.

All necessary procedures have been initiated to ensure the safety of Polish airspace. We warn you that Polish and allied aircraft have been activated, which may lead to an increase in noise levels, especially in the southeastern part of the country," the statement said.

Later, the Operations Directorate of the Polish Armed Forces reported that due to the lowered threat level, Polish and allied aircraft had stopped operating in the country's airspace and ground-based air defence systems.

The mobilised forces and assets have returned to standard operations," the agency added.

What is known about the Russian missile attack on Ukraine on January 13

During a missile attack on the night of 13 January 2023, Russia attacked Ukraine using cruise, aerial, ballistic, air, anti-aircraft guided missiles and attack drones.

Ukrainian air defence destroyed 7 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles and an Kh-59 guided missile.

It is noted that as a result of the attack with Kinzhal missiles, explosions occurred in Dnipro, in Kremenchuk district, Poltava region, where the missile fell on the territory of a private house, but fortunately did not explode.

Explosions were heard in Chernihiv region. Local authorities reported the operation of air defences and damage to infrastructure.

Air defence systems were also operating in Kirovohrad region. No casualties or damage were reported. In Rivne region, explosions were heard due to air defence activity.
