Polish ministers from the government of the new Prime Minister Donald Tusk ignored the event to which they were invited by the country's president Andrzej Duda.

Tusk's team issued an unofficial challenge to Duda

The head of Poland's office officially confirmed this information.

They state that Andrzej Duda invited ministers from Donald Tusk's government to the presidential palace for their ceremonial inclusion in the Council of Public Dialogue.

At the last minute, the ministers canceled their participation in the event, the date of which had been agreed, and ten ministers had previously confirmed their presence, the office of the Polish leader said.

The event had to be cancelled amid the demarche.

Andrzej Duda's team draws attention to the fact that "this is the first time that members of the government have cancelled their participation in the ceremony."

Such a ceremony is a long-standing tradition and emphasizes that social dialogue is one of the fundamental achievements of Poland after 1989. President Andrzej Duda, as he has repeatedly emphasised, is always ready to cooperate on the most important issues for Poles. He hopes that the ceremony will take place as soon as possible, — the Office of the President of Poland notes.

What is known about previous conflicts between Tusk and Duda

As mentioned earlier, Andrzej Duda recently said that amid the conflict with the new government of Donald Tusk regarding the budget and persecution of former government officials, he "does not see the possibility" of holding early elections in the country.

If the budget is approved, even sending it to the Constitutional Court will not lead to early elections. I hope that we will be able to sign the budget peacefully, — added the Polish president.

It is also worth noting that Tusk accused Duda's team of not solving the problem of the blockade on the Ukrainian border earlier.
