Polish truckers have unblocked the "Korchova — Krakowiec" and "Rava-Ruska — Grebenne" checkpoints. They are one of the three major cargo checkpoints on the border between Ukraine and Poland.
What is known about the lift of checkpoints' blockade
According to the information by the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland, today, around 16:00 (Kyiv time), the protest action ended in front of the checkpoints "Krakivets — Korchova" and "Rava-Ruska — Grebenne".
It is reported that the border guards work together with the employees of the control services to ensure the passage of the maximum number of trucks.
Almost 700 trucks are waiting to enter Ukraine in front of these checkpoints. Drivers and truckers are asked to consider this information when planning international transportation.
Blockade of checkpoints by Polish carriers
Since November 6, Polish truckers have started a strike on the border with Ukraine, blocking three checkpoints for the passage of freight transport: "Korchova — Krakowiec", "Hrebenne — Rava-Ruska" and "Dorogusk — Yagodyn".
The primary demand of the truckers was the cancellation of the so-called transport visa-free for Ukrainian international carriers. On December 27, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Poland is close to ending the blockade of the Ukrainian border.
Then Polish farmers also blocked the border after the truckers. They restricted the movement of trucks at the Sheghyni — Medyka checkpoint, demanding subsidies for corn purchase and leaving the agricultural tax unchanged. However, on January 7, they finished the border blockade after negotiations with the new government.
On January 16, Polish truckers who blocked checkpoints on the Ukraine border reached an agreement with the government and agreed to suspend their protest in three settlements — Korchova, Hrebenne, and Dorogusk.
According to the agreement, the blockade will be lifted by March 1. During this time, the Polish government undertakes to solve truckers' problems.
