The German arms concern Rheinmetall signed a memorandum with the Ukrainian authorities on the construction of a factory where artillery shells will be manufactured.
Rheinmetall will produce artillery shells jointly with Ukraine
Europe's largest munitions manufacturer Rheinmetall will open a joint plant for the production of projectiles in Ukraine.
This was reported by the arms concern on the social network Kh.
The memorandum on the creation of a joint venture was signed in the presence of the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshyn and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Oleksiy Makeyev during the Munich Security Conference.
It is planned that the new ammunition plant will produce a six-figure number of 155 mm artillery shells per year.
The joint venture will also produce projectile charges.
In total, the German concern Rheinmetall will own 51% of the shares of the joint plant, and the Ukrainian company will own 49%.
Rheinmetall is scaling up the production of artillery shells for Ukraine
The Rheinmetall defense concern continues to increase the production of artillery ammunition and by 2025 it wants to reach the figure of 700,000 pieces per year.
This was stated by the head of Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger, reports Handelsblatt .
We are in the process of doubling or even tripling our gunpowder production capacity in certain locations, such as those required for propellant charges for artillery shells.
By next year, Rheinmetall will be able to produce enough products to supply Europe.
According to Papperger, by 2025 the concern wants to produce up to 700,000 artillery shells per year.
In addition to the plants in Spain and Hungary, the core of the expansion will be the Rheinmetall plant in Unterluss in Lower Saxony.
