Russia has plans to produce 2.7 million missiles in 2024, and in February, they planned to launch 130 missiles of the Iskander, Caliber, X-101, X-32 and Kinzhal class.

How much ammo does Russia manufacture?

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) deputy chief, Maj. Gen. Vadym Skibitskyi said that Russia managed to produce two million ammo; this year, it seems it wants to have 2.7 million.

But these are plans. Let's see if they will be implemented. But this requires, first of all, modernisation of production, deconservation or creation of new lines.

That is why, according to him, Ukraine asks its partners that sanctions should be aimed at machines, at materials from which electronic chips, microcircuits and so on are made.

Skibitskyi reminded that the European Union promised Ukraine one million rounds from all EU countries a year.

The Russians have already received 1.5 million 122 mm and 152 mm shells from North Korea. These are ammunition 70-80 years old, half of them are expired.

Russia's missile production

According to Ukrainian military intelligence, the Russians planned to launch 130 missiles of the Iskander, Kalibr, Kh-101, Kh-32, and Kinzhal classes in February 2024.

A centre was created in Russia to replace foreign components, especially the electronic base, with elements of Russian production. They are inferior in quality and imperfect but are allowed to produce weapons.

Now the Russians are using missiles manufactured in the fourth quarter of 2023 — that is, right off the assembly line. We see that missiles no longer meet the declared characteristics, their quality is deteriorating, says Skibitskyi.

Using the example of the Calibers, intelligence shows that the use of these missiles has dramatically decreased. Their last primary use was in September 2023. The Russians used three missiles on January 2, and on February 15, two Kalibr missiles.
