Russia has a plan to launch hybrid subversive campaigns against Ukraine to provoke a split in society, according to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU).
What is Russia planning?
According to the DIU, analysts close to the Kremlin have prepared proposals for Russia's top military and political leadership to continue the war against Ukraine "more effectively" in 2024.
One of the biggest challenges for Russia at the moment is social consolidation and stability in Ukraine, despite the alleged internal political contradictions.
This unity is proposed to be destroyed by several hybrid subversive campaigns along with the continuation of intense hostilities.
Among the key goals of these measures are:
discrediting the mobilisation process;
facilitating large-scale population outflow from Ukraine;
inspiration of divisions on a regional basis.
Kremlin analysts suggest promoting the following narratives:
"The Southeast is fighting for the interests of Bandera followers";
"Without the separatists, Galicia (a region in western Ukraine) would have joined the EU a long time ago";
"They don't mobilise in Kyiv — everyone walks and has fun."
DIU is planning a hybrid campaign against Ukraine
Earlier, the DIU reported on the Kremlin's plans to conduct a hybrid campaign against Ukraine, using the theme of "the next presidential election".
