Russians claim 'aerial targets' destroyed over Gulf of Finland

Explosions rang out in the Leningrad region of the Russian Federation on the evening of March 2. The "Carpet" plan was introduced at the Pulkovo airport due to the threat of drones.

Explosions in the Leningrad region

Russian Telegram channels, citing eyewitnesses, report explosions over the Leningrad Region. Previously, the air defense system allegedly worked, the "Carpet" mode was introduced at the Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg.

It is reported that two loud explosions were heard in the area of the port of Bronka in the Gulf of Finland, and local residents say that bright flashes were seen in the sky.

Later, the Pulkovo airport resumed the reception and release of aircraft.

Also, the governor of the region reported that air defense forces allegedly went into action in the Lomonosov district of the Leningrad region. Air targets were allegedly hit over the waters and coast of the Gulf of Finland.

Drone attack on St. Petersburg

On the morning of March 2, two buildings were damaged in an unknown "incident" in the Krasnogvardiy district of St. Petersburg, city governor Oleksandr Beglov said.

Before that, Russian Telegram channels spread information that the city was allegedly attacked by a Ukrainian drone.

According to the Russians, the likely target was allegedly an oil depot northeast of St. Petersburg, less than a kilometer from the site of the "incident."

The footage published in the media shows damaged balconies of a multi-story residential building and, according to the authors, the wreckage of a drone.

Allegedly six people sought help, one person was hospitalized, reported the Russian state agency TASS.
