An agent of the Russian FSB was spying on the Third Assault Brigade and wanted to get a job at a defense plant.

What is known about the Russian agent

The law enforcement officers found that, firstly, the detainee was involved and tried to identify and transfer to the aggressor country the locations of the reserve command posts of the Third Assault Brigade and the headquarters of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

He also "leaked" the coordinates of crucial energy and heat-generating enterprises that provide light and heating to the majority of the civil infrastructure of the capital to the occupiers.

According to the SSU cyber experts, his FSB "reports" contained information about electrical substations, main power transmission lines, and the boiler houses of the "Kyivteploenergo" state enterprise.

It is noted that the invaders needed intelligence to prepare a new series of targeted strikes on the military and critical infrastructure of Ukraine.

At the same time, on the instructions of the Russian special service, its agent tried to get a job at a defence plant in the capital region. To fulfil this task, the detainee involved prepared a resume for himself and sent it to the HR department of the strategic enterprise.

In the case of receiving the position, the attacker planned to collect secret information about the types and number of weapons produced at the facilities of the defence facility.

However, the SSU officers exposed hostile intentions, documented the criminal activities of the Russian agent and detained him while performing an intelligence mission.

What punishment does the agent face?

According to the investigation, the detainee is a 52-year-old capital resident, an FSB personnel officer remotely recruited in the fall of 2023.

From the beginning, the Kyiv resident communicated with an official of the Russian intelligence service through one of the pro-Kremlin Telegram channels. Later, the FSB representative shared with his agent in the anonymous chat of the popular messenger.

To identify the locations of potential targets for the enemy, the traitor walked the streets of Kyiv and its surroundings and secretly photographed the "necessary" objects.

Based on the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the suspect of suspicion under Chapter 2 of Article 111 of Ukraine's Criminal Code. The perpetrator faces life imprisonment.
