On 5 January, it was officially reported that the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) managed to detain a traitor "political expert" in Poltava, who was preparing customised articles for Russian online publications. It is also emphasised that he is an agent of Russia's foreign intelligence service.
In Poltava, SSU detained another traitor to Ukraine
According to the Ukrainian special services, the enemy intelligence agent prepared more than 60 customised publications for the Russian online publications Odna Rodina and the Strategic Culture Foundation.
It is important to understand that these information resources are de facto international mouthpieces of the Kremlin, which aim to spread Russian propaganda in foreign countries.
The "political expert" traitor did everything possible to discredit the Ukrainian command and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the eyes of Kyiv's international partners in his materials.
It is also reported that his articles were published under the pseudonyms Andrey Uvarov, Igor Loginov and Pyotr Zharkov.
In addition, it was established that the traitor to Ukraine received almost ₴250 thousand (about £5,000) from his Russian handlers.
It was after this that Russia's intelligence service drew attention to him and remotely engaged the traitor in secret cooperation.
Detained agent of Russia faces life imprisonment
As the SSU press service notes, the detainee has already been notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
Part 2 of Art. 111 (treason);
ch. 2, 3 Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
It is also reported that the traitor has been taken into custody.
