On 12 January, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will arrive in Kyiv to announce the largest-ever batch of drones and a new aid package for Ukraine.

Ukraine to receive a new military aid package from the UK

As noted, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will announce the provision of £2.5 billion (over $3 billion) in military support to Ukraine.

The package will include long-range missiles, air defence equipment and artillery shells.

About £200 million will be spent on drones: reconnaissance, strike and long-range maritime drones. It is stated that this will be the largest delivery of drones to Ukraine from any country.

I am here with one message: The UK will not stand down. We will stand with Ukraine in its darkest hours and in the best times to come. The UK is already one of Ukraine's closest partners because we recognise that their security is our security," Sunak said.

He is expected to meet with rescuers dealing with the aftermath of Russian air strikes and announce £18 million in humanitarian aid and help to strengthen Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

In addition, the UK will provide money and resources for English language learning in Ukraine.

What is known about Rishi Sunak's visit to Kyiv

On 12 January, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will pay a working visit to Kyiv and meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Sunak is expected to sign a security cooperation agreement with Zelenskyy. The agreement covers intelligence sharing, cyber security, medical and military training, and defence-industrial cooperation.
