Sweden announces the most significant military aid package to Ukraine for $682 million

The Swedish government allocates a new military aid package worth 7.1 billion Swedish kronor, or $682 million, for Ukraine's needs. It is the 15th aid package from Sweden.

What was included in the aid package from Sweden

Swedish media reports that the package consists of:

  • Fast landing ships of the CB90 class,

  • MANPADS RBS 70,

  • artillery ammo for two billion crowns,

  • anti-tank missiles 55 (TOW),

  • grenade launchers and hand grenades

  • medical transport.

Also, another approximately 1.5 billion Swedish crowns will be allocated to various funds, which will allow, in cooperation with other countries, Ukraine to purchase, for example, drones that it needs quickly.

Sweden's aid to Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Sweden has transferred weapons and equipment to Ukraine for over $2.1 billion. The aid was distributed within 14 support packages.

Sweden sent some of the most advanced heavy weapons systems to Ukraine: 50 CV90 combat vehicles, 10 Leopard battle tanks, 8 Archer self-propelled howitzers, ammunition and spare parts.

In addition, the Hawk air defence system, NLAW anti-tank missiles, the Hellfire 17 anti-ship missile system, the AT4 hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher, rifles, and defence and mine clearance equipment.
