The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, and the head of the Ministry of Defense, Rustem Umierov, visited the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kupiansk region. This direction is managed by the OSTG "Khortytsia" Commander, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, who reported about the situation on this front.

What is known about the visit of the General Staff and MOD chieves to AFU positions in the Kupyansk region

It is noted that the Chief of AFU General Staff, Lieutenant General Serhii Shaptala, also arrived at the AFU position in the Kupiansk region with Zaluzhnyi and Umierov.

According to Syrskyi, the Ukrainian military repels constant attacks by the occupying army of the Russian Federation in the Kupiansk region.

The AFU General Staff and the Ministry of Defense Representatives also emphasised the lack of success in Russia's criminal army in the Kupiansk region.

I had the honor to meet with the commanders of the units that are fighting in this direction now. Reported on the situation, current challenges. Decisions will be made shortly and the enemy will not like it, the MOD chief Rustem Umierov said.

What is known about the impact of difficult weather conditions on the front

According to Oleksandr Shtupun, the OSTG "Tavria" spokesman, the unfavourable weather conditions did not pause the fighting. However, a decrease in the number of attacks and shelling by the criminal army of the Russian Federation was observed in some areas of the front.

At the same time, as Shtupun emphasised, the Russian occupiers continued to rotate and train their units.

Fighting continues. You can say no. Certain tactics simply change, the OSTG "Tavria" spokesman noted in response to the influence of weather conditions on combat operations.

He added that unfavourable weather conditions make it difficult to use drones, affecting the decrease in artillery fire from both sides.

Shtupun also explained that the enemy should not be underestimated because he has many powerful units that create problems for the Ukrainian military.

But most of them are recruits who have been trained in a hurry. But there are many of them, the military man said.

An Armed Forces representative reported that the Russians began to attack less in some directions due to the weather conditions because the frozen ground did not allow them to dig in.

In addition, December was "very active", which also affected the current actions of the Russian army.

But we are ready for anything, because the enemy is training assault groups and trying to replace those units that have suffered losses with fresh ones, Shtupun emphasised.
