The Ministry of Economy of Taiwan has announced the expansion of the list of high-tech goods prohibited for export to Russia and Belarus due to the criminal war unleashed by the Kremlin against Ukraine.

What is known about the expansion of Taiwan's sanctions against the Russian Federation and Belarus

The Ministry representatives explained that expanding the list of sanctioned goods was carried out to prevent the entry of high-tech dual-purpose goods into Russia and Belarus and their further use for military purposes.

In particular, equipment for producing semiconductors, certain chemicals and medicines was added to the list.

The expansion of sanctions against Russia and Belarus by Taiwan is a step similar to the actions of the USA and the EU countries after high-tech components of Western production were found in the Russian equipment destroyed by the Ukrainian military at the front.

The strengthening of sanctions against Russia and Belarus by other countries

The South Korean government has expanded export control over the Russian Federation and Belarus. As part of the sanctions, Seoul has significantly expanded the list of goods with hundreds of items subject to restrictions.

As noted, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea has added another 682 items to the list of goods whose deliveries to Russia and Belarus are prohibited.

In particular, heavy construction equipment, batteries, machine tools and aviation components were included there.

The new resolution will increase the number of items on the sanctions list to 1,159.

This decision should enter into force in early 2024 after the implementation of the necessary administrative procedures and the South Korean government's publication of guidance for exporters.
