One of the victims of the grenade explosion by the councillor in the Keretska village council in the Zakarpattia region died in hospital. Law enforcers plan to reclassify the case as a terrorist attack that resulted in the death of a person.

The first victim of the terrorist attack in the Zakarpattia region

One of the wounded died as a result of a grenade explosion in the village council of the Keretska community in the Zakarpattia region.

This was reported by local journalist Vitaliy Hlahola on Telegram.

Viktor Pryadilya, a 55-year-old councillor from the village of Bereznyky, died in the Svalyava hospital; doctors had previously amputated his leg, and he was in critical condition in intensive care.

Today, the deputy who detonated the grenades in the village council building was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, i.e. a terrorist act that led to grave consequences. However, the case is now planned to be reclassified under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 15 years or even life sentence.

It is about Serhiy Batryn, a member of the village councillor from the Servant of the People political party.

Detonation of grenades in the village council in Zakarpattia

On 15 December, the deputy detonated three grenades in the building of the Keretsky village council right during the session. The explosions injured 23 people, including the suspect.

Among the wounded are 16 men and 7 women aged from 28 to 68. They sustained injuries of varying severity, most of them were diagnosed with shrapnel wounds.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that the councillor bomber had been preparing for the attack in advance. Law enforcement officers found relevant evidence.
