In the Sumy area, soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces defending the Northern Operational Zone stopped another attempt by an enemy sabotage and intelligence group to cross the state border of Ukraine, said the commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Serhiy Naev.
Naev said that yesterday, February 3, at 6:20 p.m., on the approaches to the Glukhiv community, fighters from one of the strongholds noticed the movement of an armed group of ten people.
Ukrainian fighters immediately started a shooting battle and called up anti-sabotage reserves from their battalion. After a few minutes, mortars joined them, densely covering the place of concentration of enemy forces with fire.
Having suffered losses, the enemy changed tactics, dividing into two groups. Therefore, one of the groups, under the cover of its artillery, carried out the evacuation of the bodies of the killed and wounded. The second group tried to bypass the stronghold from the side flank. The battle lasted for an hour and a half and the Armed Forces managed to push the Russians far from the border.
What is the situation in Sumy Oblast
Recently, the situation in the border region of Sumy has sharply worsened. On January 7, the occupiers attacked the city of Krolevets in the Sumy region. The city was attacked by Russian "shaheeds" and rockets.
And on January 27, the Russian DRG shot two people. The house of the dead is located in the village of Andriivka, located in the 5-kilometer border zone with Russia.
