The Netherlands joins the drone coalition for Ukraine. As part of the coalition, Amsterdam will supply Kyiv with advanced drone technologies and strengthen its offensive potential in the war unleashed by the Russian Federation.

The Netherlands joined the Drone Coalition for Ukraine

The Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, reported that this commitment of the Netherlands complements the supply of F-16 fighter jets, artillery, ammunition, and air defence systems to Ukraine.

According to the minister, there may be additional costs for the Netherlands in addition to the two billion euros allocated for 2024.

We know, of course, that drones are very important in this war. That's why we're joining the drone coalition that Ukraine created with Latvia, with other countries, to make sure that we're doing just that — increasing production, using the latest technology, and providing exactly what Ukraine needs, she said.

What is known about the Drone Coalition for Ukraine

The main task of the Drone Coalition is to help Ukraine scale up the production of drones and means of radio-electronic warfare for the needs of war.

The Ministry of Defence noted that today Ukraine produces more than 70 models of UAVs, which are legalised and operated on the front lines.

The other day, the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, stated that Ukraine had overtaken the Russian Federation in terms of the number of kamikaze drones of the Shahed type and other long-range drones. And the production of such drones is limited only by budgetary funding.

Now Ukraine is trying to simplify the production of drones in the country and purchases from abroad. In this she is helped, in particular, by the members of the Coalition of Drones.

More than 20 countries have already joined the drone coalition.
