Two collaborators for holding a pseudo-referendum in Kherson region were detained

Law enforcement officers detained two collaborators who helped the Russians hold an illegal "referendum" in the Kherson region.

What is known about the detainees' collaboration with Russia

The extras are the Milove and Bilozersk community residents. After the region's occupation, they supported the Russian invaders and voluntarily joined the Russian occupation administration.

There, they were tasked with organising a pseudo-referendum of Russia in temporary occupied settlements.

Being in the ranks of the invading "electoral committees", they went around the homes of residents and demanded that people "vote for joining" the region to Russia.

The detainees forced people to put the "necessary" marks in the fake ballots and monitored the "correctness of filling out".

In case of refusal to support the aggressor, the attackers threatened to "hand over" fellow villagers to armed Russians who accompanied them during yard patrols.

What is the punishment for collaborators?

SSU employees detained both collaborators during the stabilisation measures in the liberated part of the region. The arrested woman tried to hide from justice in the apartments of her acquaintances, whom she used as "darkness".

Based on the collected evidence, the investigators informed the detainees of the suspicion of collaborative activity committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy.

They are currently in custody, and an investigation is underway to establish the crime's circumstances. Perpetrators face up to 10 years in prison.
