Russian ships are loaded in a North Korean port, as evidenced by data from satellite images of Great Britain. This is happening against the background of accusations that Pyongyang supplies missiles and shells to Moscow.

What Britain managed to discover

Great Britain provided a group of UN experts with satellite photos of North Korean cargo shipments to Russia as part of an attempt to initiate an official investigation into arms sales in violation of international sanctions.

The publication noted that North Korea is currently accused of supplying ballistic missiles and hundreds of thousands of artillery shells to the Russian government for the war in Ukraine since the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un in the far east of the Russian Federation in September.

The undisclosed British intelligence report includes images taken between September and December of three Russian ships — the Maya, Angara and Maria — loading containers at the re-established North Korean port of Najin before transiting to Russian ports in the Far East.

The agency said it could not identify what exactly was in the containers. However, this comes after the US announced last week that ballistic missiles from North Korea had been used by Russia in Ukraine last week.

The UN representative statement regarding the weapon supply to Russia

The UN diplomat stated that Russia's use of North Korean weapons in Ukraine is a violation of several UN Security Council resolutions.

He emphasised that these actions undermine international efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and show how pathetic Russia has become since its failed invasion.

This and other evidence provided to the UN Sanctions Committee should initiate a full investigation into gross violations of international sanctions by Russia and North Korea, he emphasised.

The report and other evidence from the US and other countries were submitted to the UN panel of experts on North Korean disarmament.

Specialists are expected to publish their first final report on the matter next month amid already available information on North Korea's weapons transfer to Russia.
