According to the document, the Netherlands also supports Ukraine's future membership in the EU and NATO.
I am grateful to Prime Minister Rutte for this agreement, which will strengthen the defense of Ukraine, in particular the city of Kharkiv, where we met today.
What does the agreement between Ukraine and the Netherlands provide
The document will be valid for ten years from the date of signing.
In particular, the Netherlands' €2 billion of military aid provision in 2024 and continued support for the next ten years was recorded.
In the non-military sphere, it is assumed:
Strengthening assistance to Ukraine in the direction of economic recovery and reconstruction;
Countering hybrid threats in the field of intelligence, cyber and information security, in the field of combating organized crime, as well as in the field of critical infrastructure.
In particular, the document contains extended blocks regarding the support in:
sanctions restrictions, compensation for damages and holding Russia accountable;
the bilateral cultural heritage of the Netherlands and Ukraine.
Dutch support for Ukraine's future membership in the EU and NATO.
The mechanism of a 24-hour emergency response in the event of repeated military aggression against Ukraine has been determined, the Office of the President adds.
Security Guarantees for Ukraine
At the Vilnius NATO summit, the G7 countries signed a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine, which was subsequently joined by several other countries.
The agreement refers not only to military aid but also to financial and economic support and the restoration of Ukraine. In addition, the agreements guarantee assistance to Kyiv in case of repeated aggression by the Russian Federation.
On January 12, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak came to Kyiv on a working visit. In the capital, he signed a historic agreement with Zelenskyi on cooperation in security.
Ukraine also has relevant agreements with Germany and France. They were signed during the president's visit to Europe.
