The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Col Gen Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited the Avdiivka region. Together with the commanders, he considered the optimal options for the actions of the Ukrainian troops and measures to strengthen the defence.

Syrskyi reported on the decision regarding the Avdiiv direction

[I] worked in the Avdiyiv direction, where the enemy concentrated his primary efforts and, for several days in a row, has been trying to break through the defence of our troops in the bands of three brigades, daily throwing assault units on equipment and on foot into battle.

According to the AFU Commander-in-Chief, the commanders and he considered the optimal options for our troops' actions, reserve manoeuvres, provision of ammunition, and other material means.

All the necessary measures were taken to strengthen the defense and organize constant interaction between all elements of the operational construction in this direction, the general stated.

What is the situation in the Avdiivka direction?

General Syrskyi said that the enemy's offensive actions are supported by intense artillery fire and the active use of FPV drones and drones with drops.

The enemy's aviation periodically strikes with anti-aircraft missiles from a distance of 40-50 km, artillery positions and the main elements of the battle order are covered by EW means, the AFU Commander-in-chief said about the enemy's tactics.

In these conditions, as the general says, the most effective way to conduct defense is to destroy the enemy's armored vehicles and infantry assault groups with artillery fire, the actions of armored groups, the complex use of various types of strike unmanned systems, the protection of one's units from enemy drones by means of EW in combination with the destruction of control points enemy UAV strikes by missile systems and artillery fire.
