Ukraine's government allocates funds to construct defence structures for UAH 17.5 billion

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers allocates funds for the construction of defence structures

On January 19, the Government of Ukraine allocated a record amount of money to construct defence lines.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Telegram.

We continue to constantly strengthen our defense capability. Today we are allocating a record amount for the construction of defensive lines, the statement says.

According to him, it is about UAH 17.5 billion, which will be directed to the construction of engineering and technical and fortification structures, appropriate equipment and a system of non-explosive barriers.

We allocate funds to relevant departments and regional state administrations, Shmyhal added.

Strengthening of Ukraine's defence

Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, previously held several vital meetings in Zaporizhzhia. In particular, he discussed the issue of strengthening border territories.

He discussed the issue of fortification in all the main directions, where it is necessary to strengthen and speed up the construction of structures. He says this applies to specific directions in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions and the Sumy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Rivne regions. He also mentioned the Kherson region and Volyn.

Before this, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, reported that the government had decided to strengthen defence in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

At the beginning of December, the government allocated funds to strengthen the defence of the Zaporizhzhia region.
