Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with his Slovak colleague Robert Fico in Uzhhorod. Ukraine intends to form a "new pragmatic" policy with the government of Slovakia.
Meeting of Shmyhal and Fico
Shmyhal reports that following the meeting with Fico, the following agreements were reached:
The Slovak government will not block Ukraine's purchase of weapons and equipment from Slovak businesses.
Ukraine and Slovakia will cooperate on equipment supplies from the Slovak company for constructing defence lines.
Slovakia will support the Ukraine Facility program, which allocates 50 billion euros from the European Union to Ukraine.
Prime Minister Fico assured of full support for Ukraine's European integration aspirations.
The prime ministers also signed a joint statement, which:
confirmed readiness for further cooperation aimed at respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
noted Slovakia's support for the European integration of Ukraine.
expressed support for the Peace Formula.
emphasized the importance of Slovakia's participation in the recovery of Ukraine and the appointment of the Vice-Prime Minister for the recovery plan, stability and knowledge economy of Slovakia.
confirmed the importance of Slovakia's participation in the humanitarian demining of Ukraine.
noted the importance of joint efforts to ensure global food security and increase the transit potential for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
emphasized the importance of developing military-technical cooperation on a commercial basis.
Fico again made a scandalous statement about Ukraine
The day before, Fico said that in Kyiv, Ukrainians "live a normal life, and the war does not touch them there."
Fico's statement came on the same day when Russia launched a massive missile attack on Kyiv, Kharkiv and Pavlograd.
