On the night of January 17, the Russian army attacked the territory of Ukraine with two dozen drones — Ukrainian air defence was able to destroy 19 of them.

According to the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the night of January 17, the Russian army launched 20 Shahed-136/131 type attack UAVs from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk region and two S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the Belhorod in the direction of Kharkiv.

19 Shaheds were destroyed by the forces and means of the Air Force in cooperation with the Air Defence Forces. Anti-aircraft missile units and mobile fire groups were involved in the repulse of the air attack, the statement of the Armed Forces of AFU.

In addition, it is emphasised that air defence forces worked within the boundaries of Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions.

What is known about the situation in the regions as of the morning of January 17

As a result of the Russian shelling of Odesa, there is damage to the civilian residential infrastructure, there are recorded fires, and there are injured among civilian population.

This information was officially confirmed by the governor of Odesa region, Oleh Kiper.

The number of wounded as a result of the Russian attack increased to three people. Two women, aged 54 and 29, were injured. Doctors provided the necessary assistance on the spot, the governor wrote.

In addition, Oleg Kiper added that 130 civilians were evacuated from the damaged building.

It is also worth reminding that explosions rang out in Kharkiv on the evening of January 16. The mayor Ihor Terekhov reported a rocket attack, and 17 people were injured.

It is also indicated that at least ten residential buildings were affected.
