Ukrenergo asked foreign partners for emergency assistance: what happened

Ukrenergo

In the evening of November 22, NEC "Ukrenergo" was forced to attract emergency assistance from Slovakia, Poland and Romania.

Ukrenergo faced a new problem due to the change in the weather

According to the chairman of the company's board, Volodymyr Kudrytskyy, the company was forced to decide to attract emergency aid from neighbouring countries.

We received emergency aid from Slovakia, Poland and Romania during the three evening hours, when consumption is highest. And this helped us to balance our energy system today, he explained.

Volodymyr Kudrytskyy also noted that frosty weather will prevail in our country during the next few days, which is why a deficit in the energy system is entirely possible.

In addition, he said that the energy system still has reserves for increasing the generation volumes. Still, the situation was worsened by the fact that several power units recently went into emergency repair.

The chairman of the company's board hopes that their work will be resumed. He is also counting on the exit from planned repairs of some power units of power plants.

What is known about the causes of shortages in the energy system of Ukraine

On the evening of November 22, the Ukrainian energy system recorded a shortage of electricity.

After that, energy experts appealed to Ukrainians to save light, especially in the evening hours.

As the "Ukrenergo" dispatch centre warns, the deficit may increase in the evening hours.

First of all, it depends on the following reasons:

  • increased consumption due to cooling;

  • increased emergency power plant units;

  • insufficient volumes of electricity imports from the EU.
