Against the background of the aggravation of the separatist policy of the pro-Russian leader of the Bosnian Serbs, Milorad Dodik, two American fighter jets flew over Bosnia. In this way, the US demonstrated their support for the integrity of the Balkan state.

The USA reacted to the strengthening of separatist sentiments in Bosnia

According to Air Force Times, US Air Force F-16 fighter jets flew as part of joint exercises involving the US and Bosnian armed forces.

In addition, it is emphasised that the flights took place in the eastern city of Tuzla and northern Brcko.

In the northwestern city of Banja Luka — the main city of the Serbian entity — during a gathering on the occasion of the celebration of the "Day of the Republic of Serbia", the roar of planes flying over it was heard, the report says.

According to representatives of the US Embassy in Sarajevo, the mentioned bilateral exercises are an example of advanced military cooperation that contributes to peace and security in the Western Balkans.

Moreover, it is emphasised that in this way, the American authorities wanted to demonstrate the US's support in ensuring the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina against the background of increased separatist activity.

What is happening in Bosnia

Milorad Dodik is the leader of the Serbian entity in Bosnia called Republika Srpska.

He continues to publicly clash with the US and Great Britain amid growing ties to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's team.

The scandalous politician has threatened many times to separate the Serb-ruled part of Bosnia from the rest of the country.

The Supreme Court of Bosnia recognised the celebration of the "Day of the Republic of Srpska" as illegal. On January 9, 1992, the Bosnian Serbs declared the creation of an independent state in Bosnia, which led to bloodshed.

As Dodik ironically points out, the flyover of American fighter jets is supposed to contribute to the January 9 celebrations, which usually include a parade of armed police and their equipment.
