Will Russia resume missile strikes on Ukraine from Tu-95MS bombers — Air Force response

Tu-95MS

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat said that Russia could repeat cruise missile strikes from Tu-95MS strategic bombers against Ukraine — the occupiers had paused for more than two months and may have been stockpiling missiles.

Will the Russian Federation resume missile strikes on Ukraine from Tu-95MS bombers

According to him, the Russians spent more than a thousand cruise missiles last autumn and winter. We are talking about Kh-101, Kh-555 (called as-23a KODIAK and AS-15 Kent cruise missiles in NATO countries list) and sea-based Kalibr cruise missiles.

Ihnat noted that after a series of massive strikes in the winter, the occupiers took a break to replenish their stocks of cruise missiles. After that, the shelling resumed in the summer, and since the end of September, the enemy has again paused.

Whether this means they will continue to use them is anyone's guess. We will see as we live. We have already said that they do not have as many missiles as they had last year, Ihnat said.

On the morning of 8 December, the Russian occupation army used Tu-95MS strategic bombers against Ukraine for the first time since 21 September 2023. The aircraft fired 19 Kh-101 and Kh-555 cruise missiles at Ukraine, 14 of which were shot down. The missiles were flying in the direction of Kyiv, but did not reach their target, being shot down on approach. Some of the missiles were also shot down in the Dnipro region, with a hit and a casualty.

Attack of Russian drones on Ukraine on December 8

At night, the occupying Russian army launched Shahid drones from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk sector into the territory of our country.

In total, we are talking about 7 drones.

Shaheds attacked the Dnipro region, and anti-aircraft guided missiles attacked the Kharkiv region. The Air Force of Ukraine, in cooperation with the air defence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, destroyed five enemy attack drones. We hold the sky, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement.
