WP journalists found out about the biggest secret of US military aid to Ukraine

US military aid

According to experts, the funds allocated by the US to help Ukraine remain with American arms manufacturers, and the manufactured arms are sent to Kyiv.

What is known about the specifics of US military aid to Ukraine

According to analysts cited by the authors of the material, tens of billions of dollars that Congress allocated for military assistance to Ukraine are received by at least 117 production lines in 31 American states.

Thus, we are talking about the fact that Kyiv does not receive money from the USA but only receives weapons, which American manufacturers produce with this money, and the funds remain in the USA.

Of the $68 billion in military and related aid that Congress allocated after the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, almost 90% went to the Americans, as one of the analyzes showed, the author of the article Mark Thiessen notes, who was a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush and American Enterprise Institute researcher.

What is known about the attempts of American politicians to prevent aid to Ukraine

According to him, the actions of individual American legislators do not correspond to this reality.

Thiessen cited Ohio Republican Senator Jay D. Vance as an example.

When he joined the United Auto Workers picket at the Jeep plant in Toledo in October, he said he wanted to "show support" in his state.

At the same time, he did not show the same solidarity with the workers of "Unification" but already in Lyme, Ohio, who are engaged in producing Abrams tanks and Stryker combat vehicles for Ukraine.

Vance has spoken out against giving aid to our state, as has Republican Jim Jordan, whose district also includes Lyme.

Voters in Ohio could expect their elected leaders to push the Biden administration to provide Ukraine with more Lyme-made tanks and vehicles, or to demand that they be included in an aid package for Ukraine that will soon be considered by Congress, the author of the article notes.

However, according to him, congressmen Vance and Jordan are doing everything to prevent Ukraine from receiving more tanks and combat vehicles manufactured at the only tank factory in the United States.
