Zelenskyy rejected any negotiations and compromises with the Kremlin

Office of the President of Ukraine
Volodymyr Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the Kremlin dictator and war criminal Volodymyr Putin is not interested in ending the criminal war against Ukraine, and negotiations with the Russian Federation are pointless.

Why negotiations with the Kremlin do not make any sense

First of all, he does not need peace. When we want to solve a problem, we must understand that it is necessary for all parties. We want to end the war, Zelenskyy explained during an interview with journalists of Latin American publications.

The president emphasized that he does not imagine negotiations with the Kremlin or representatives of the Russian government regarding the occupied Ukrainian territories where Ukrainian citizens live.

How can I negotiate with Putin? Let's forget for a second that he's a murderer. With the Russian side. How can I negotiate with him about people who are in some towns-villages, which were occupied, who live there. And here two people or two teams sit down and say: let them be yours. Who are we to decide where a person should live, who to be, what language to speak, which flag to respect? Who are we? the head of state says.

He added that according to the Constitution, he must protect the rights and freedoms of Ukrainian citizens and help liberate the occupied territories.

Why Putin's guarantees are worthless

He is convinced that there should be people around him who are ready to defend independence with weapons in their hands.

Does anyone want to die? No. All living people. But this man does not want any dialogue, he does not want to stop the war. For him today, stopping the war is two words on the phone. Tell your troops to withdraw. This is a restoration, this is a complete restoration, then it is purely diplomacy, then a conversation without any weapons. This person does not want to do it, he is not interested, Zelenskyy explains.

The head of state recalled that after the occupation of Crimea and parts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions in 2014, the Kremlin dictator falsely promised not to start a large-scale war against Ukraine.

If so, why did he go to full-scale war? Everything he says is false. He is not interested in an independent Ukraine, he needs Ukraine as a part, an enclave of Russia, what he did with Belarus, what he did with Moldova, Georgia. Everywhere, as in our country, a part of a whole territory is seized, so that there is no stability and after a while they will come and seize it completely. Ukraine is simply a big country and he failed. Because what does he have to compromise? Who is he? I can't trade people. And with whom? With a person whose word is worth nothing. These are not guarantees, Zelenskyy notes.
