Martial law and mobilisation in Ukraine
Martial law has been imposed in Ukraine since February 24, 2022 due to the full-scale invasion of Russia.
This special legal regime provides state authorities, military command, military administrations, and local self-government bodies with the powers necessary to avert the threat.
According to the legislation, during martial law in Ukraine, the freedom of movement of citizens, foreigners and stateless persons, as well as the movement of vehicles, can be restricted.
They can also prohibit the activities of certain political parties or public associations that work against Ukraine.
During martial law, it is impossible to terminate the powers of the president, the Verkhovna Rada, the government, the courts, and some other authorities. Changing the Constitution and holding elections, strikes, mass gatherings, and actions is impossible.
The general mobilisation is carried out simultaneously on the entire territory of Ukraine. The men aged 18 to 60 are subject to general mobilisation. However, people with military experience are primarily mobilised.
