A Mi-8 helicopter crashed in Russia with 20 people on board. According to preliminary data, there are casualties, but their number is being clarified. The event occurred in the Magadan region.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the incident is an engine malfunction, the statement says.

In addition, it is emphasized that the helicopter fell at 11:05 local time, 75 km from the village Evensk, North-Evensky district, Magadan region.

The Mi-8 of the carrier "Dalnyorechensk Avia" was transporting workers of the gold ore deposit and followed the route "Kvartsovy airfield — Omsukchan airport". There were 20 people on board the aircraft, including 3 crew members.

According to the latest data, at least two people died as a result of the plane crash.

Search and rescue operations are currently underway.
