What is known about the use of chemical weapons use by Russia's army against AFU

Shtupun notes that we are talking about the banned chlorpicrin, which is contained in K-51 grenades used by the Russian occupying forces against the armed forces.

He stated the fact of another violation by the Russian side of the rules of warfare and the use of poisonous chemical substances against the Ukrainian military.

The OSTG "Tavria" spokesperson noted that each case is considered separately and sent to international human rights organisations.

Stupun suggested that, most likely, Russian war criminals used K-51 grenades with chlorpicrin in the battle against the Ukrainian military.

He emphasised that getting it into the dugout is critical when using this substance.

However, Shtupun added that you can save yourself from chlorine with the help of an ordinary gas mask.

What is known about the substance chlorpicrin

It is a chemical that is either colourless or a pale yellow oily liquid with a pungent odour. It was discovered in 1848 by the Scottish chemist John Stenhouse.

Its boiling point is 112 degrees, while it does not dissolve well in water.

Chlorpicrin causes severe inflammation of the eyes, throat, nose, and respiratory tract and quickly incapacitates a person.

In high concentrations, it can lead to death and poison the water and food of soldiers.
