In Crimea, on the night of 5 January, powerful explosions were heard near the temporarily occupied Yevpatoriya. Eyewitnesses reported a possible attack on a military airfield.

What is known about explosions in Crimea

It is noted that eyewitnesses counted up to 10 explosions near the Saky is an air base in Novofedorivka.

Eyewitnesses also reported that debris fell on a private house in the village of Mykhailivka, located not far from the military facility, and a fire broke out.

Eyewitnesses also reported the launch of a missile in Armyansk at 23:55 Kyiv time. A bright trail in the sky was visible through the window for several seconds. The same explosion was heard in Krasnoperekopsk district.

At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that at 00:30 Moscow time, four Ukrainian missiles were intercepted and destroyed over the Crimean peninsula by air defence systems.

Attack on command post of Russian army in Crimea

On 4 January, a series of explosions took place in Crimea. Photos and videos were published online showing that there had been explosions on the peninsula.

Later, the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed that an attack on the enemy's command post near Sevastopol had taken place.

On 5 January, a special flight detachment 'Russia', controlled by the Russian Presidential Administration, arrived in Crimea.

Information was circulated on the Internet that the Chief of the General Staff of Russia's Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, was killed as a result of the attack by the Ukrainian army on Crimea on 4 January. However, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine did not confirm this information.

The occupying governor of the city, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said that one person was injured when debris fell on a house, and added that several other pieces of rocket debris fell in different streets.
