German sanctions against the Russian Federation are in effect

As of the beginning of December, Russian assets worth €4.1 billion were blocked in Germany.

The press service representative of the Ministry of Finance of the Federal Republic of Germany, Nojinan Niminde-Dundadengar, reported this.

As of the beginning of December, in connection with the Russian war against Ukraine, assets worth about 4.1 billion euros have been sanctioned in Germany.

These are frozen money, economic resources of individual persons, blocked money of the Russian Central Bank, a representative of the press service of the German Ministry of Finance said.

In his turn, the MFA spokesman, Christian Wagner, reminded that one should not forget that sanctions are very diverse, and many act indirectly. Therefore, they should not be underestimated.

He also reminded that the 12th sanctions package was recently approved. He assured that "there will be further packages that the system will be expanded and developed, shortcomings and opportunities to circumvent sanctions will be identified and overlapped."

The department also talked about the G7 decision, when its participants agreed to "make efforts and ensure that the Russian Federation pays for the reconstruction of Ukraine in the long term", for which it was decided to freeze Russian state assets under the legal systems of the participating states.

Germany helps Ukraine's energy sector.

The German government allocated another €88.5 million to Ukraine's Energy Support Fund under the European Energy Community.

The German government's press service reported this.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection provides €54.3 million through KfW, and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs €34.2 million. This is due to the fact that during the second winter of Russian aggression against Ukraine, Russian airstrikes also targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure, the message says.

Ukraine uses funds from the Energy Support Fund to finance energy sources, spare parts and equipment, such as transformers and generators, that help maintain energy supplies in Ukraine. And also for repairing destroyed substations and power plants to continue providing the population with electricity and heat.
