According to The Times of Israel, the Israeli military was able to break into the centre of Khan Yunis, one of the key cities in southern Gaza.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the 98th Israeli Division "launched a combined attack in the area of the city of Khan Yunis against the centres of concentration of the terrorist organization Hamas."

The IDF states that within a few hours, the troops broke through the defenses of the Hamas brigade in Khan Younis, surrounded the city and began manoeuvring deep into it.

The troops that led the offensive captured Hamas strongholds and discovered weapons and intelligence materials. Many militants were also destroyed, and dozens of destroyed tunnels were found.

At the same time, according to the information of the Defense Army, the forces of the "Commandos" brigade, together with the "Givati" brigade, reached the centre of Khan Yunis and are conducting "targeted raids in the heart of the city", killing Hamas fighters and destroying the infrastructure of the terrorist group.

During one of the operations, according to the IDF, the weapons warehouse in the mosque was destroyed.
