The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland, Czeslaw Sekersky, announced the strengthening of control and activation of inspections of Ukrainian agricultural products exported to Poland.

Poland announced inspections of Ukrainian agricultural products

The Ministry of Agriculture and Development published a photo of Sekersky during an inspection at a checkpoint on the Polish-Ukrainian border.

Excessive import of agricultural products from Ukraine, which does not meet EU production requirements, threatens the competitiveness of Polish agriculture, the ministry emphasized.

Cheslav Sekersky visited the checkpoints "Medyka" and "Korchova" as part of the inspections.

At one of the checkpoints, the minister met with representatives of the "Oshukane Selo" farmers' organization, which previously blocked the road near the "Medyka-Sheghini" checkpoint.

The day before, on February 3, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Michal Kolodziejczak, visited the checkpoint on the border with Ukraine. There he spoke with local officials and complained about the quality of Ukrainian products.

Polish farmers plan to block all border crossings between Poland and Ukraine from February 9 to March 10.

On February 9, Hungarian farmers will also block the "Zachon - Chop" checkpoint.

They oppose the European Commission's proposal to extend the duty-free regime for exports from Ukraine until the middle of 2025. It provides quotas for poultry meat, eggs and sugar. Tariffs will be imposed on them if their exports exceed the average annual volumes of imports for 2022 and 2023.

Earlier, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary demanded from the European Union to introduce import duties on grain from Ukraine, which the EC refused.
