Russians attack AFU with grenades with poisonous substances

Russia violates the international convention on non-use of weapons with chemical components.

It was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.

Mobile groups and other units of the group of forces and means of support recorded 815 facts about the use of ammunition by the Russian Federation, which is equipped with poisonous chemical substances. Only in January 2024 were 229 cases recorded.

Most often, the enemy uses grenades, such as K-51, RGR, and RG-Vo, which contain a dangerous chemical substance CS, prohibited for waging war (combat operations) by paragraph 5 of Article 1 of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

The CBRN Intelligence units take the samples of soil, vegetation, and ammunition fragments and send them for analysis.

As part of open criminal proceedings, documented cases of the use of dangerous chemicals are submitted to investigative bodies for investigation.

The Russian military has grenades with poisonous substances

During a briefing at the Military Media Centre, the representative of the Center for the Research of Trophy and Prospective Weapons and Military Equipment, Captain Andriy Rudyk, announced this information.

In December, the use of the RG-Vo grenade was recorded for the first time. This grenade contains chloroacetophenone, a substance with an asphyxiating effect, prohibited by the Geneva Protocol on the Use of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or Other Similar Gases in War, Rudyk said.

In the Center for Research of Trophy and Prospective Armaments and Military Equipment, it is assumed that in the case of entering a room or a dugout, five minutes is enough to kill people there.

It is noted that the tested sample was manufactured in 2023 at a factory that has been operating since the time of the Soviet Union.
