- With Ukrainian President Zelensky also participating in the negotiations, the focus remains on convincing Trump to commit to the security guarantees for Ukraine, with the expectation of further discussions with the Coalition of the Willing.
G7 wants to reach an agreement with Trump on Ukraine's defense
According to anonymous sources, the leaders of Italy, Germany, France, Canada, and the United Kingdom, as well as the President of the European Commission, are planning to join this meeting with the US President in Davos.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will also be present.
The G7 members are determined to do everything possible to secure Trump's personal support for security guarantees for Ukraine after the end of hostilities.
In particular, officials are negotiating details of a meeting scheduled for Jan. 21 that could include other leaders of the Coalition of the Willing. National security advisers from the coalition also plan to hold a separate meeting, officials said.
One insider made it clear that without Donald Trump's consent, it would be impossible to implement the deployment of multinational forces.
What is important to understand is that this is exactly what Great Britain and France previously promised Ukraine.
"It's still hard to understand what Trump is really thinking," one of the anonymous sources admitted.
