The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) detained an FSB agent who tried to poison the commanders of an AFU combat unit in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The traitor planned to poison the AFU command staff

The SSU said that the perpetrator was a serviceman of the Ukrainian army.

He planned to add a poisonous substance to the water of the bath and laundry complex, which was used by the AFU command staff.

SSU employees exposed the traitor's connection with the Russian secret service and detained him at the stage of preparation for sabotage.

During the investigation, the SSU also established that the attacker was performing another task — scouting for the FSB the deployment locations and movement of AFU units on the front line.

How the FSB recruited a military man

According to the investigation, he was recruited through his parents, who live in the temporarily occupied part of the Luhansk region.

The Russian occupiers kidnapped the man's relatives right from their home and then imprisoned them in a local Russian torture chamber.

There, the victims were subjected to brutal torture, demanding that they persuade their son to work for the aggressor country.

Further communication between the traitor and his Russian "curator" took place through an anonymous chat in the messenger.

During the search, a mobile phone was seized from the detainee, which he used to communicate with the occupiers.

The SSU investigators informed him of the suspicion under Chapter 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).

The perpetrator is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
