The attack by Ukrainian drones on the night of January 18 on an oil depot in the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation is a special operation of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU).

What is known about the DIU attack on the oil depot in Russia

According to DIU sources, this is an operation that uses modern Ukrainian means. Currently, data collection continues, and there are confirmed hits on targets.

Now, military facilities in St Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast are within reach of Ukrainian forces, the DIU reported.

According to Russian mass media, "Petersburg Oil Terminal" is the Baltic region's largest Russian oil product transhipment terminal.

According to preliminary data, three drones were launched, two of which were suppressed by EW and fell into the Gulf of Finland. At the same time, a third drone was shot down over the territory of the oil terminal around half past two in the morning.

The drone's wreckage fell on the open territory of one of the elevator platforms of the port between tanks with fuel oil. The drone exploded after falling and caused a fire. The burning area was 130 square meters.

Night attack of drones on Russia's territory

On January 18, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on an attack by Ukrainian drones, in particular in the Leningrad region. The UAV was allegedly shot down.

At the same time, Russian media reports that the drone fell and exploded on the territory of JSC "Petersburg Oil Terminal" in St. Petersburg.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that one unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed over the territory of the Moscow region, and one was intercepted over the territory of the Leningrad region.

In addition, on the morning of January 18, the mayor's office of the Russian city of Belgorod reported a missile threat to the town and advised residents to stay home. The alarm lasted only 20 minutes, after which the local authorities said that they allegedly shot down ten missiles over the air defence area.
