What is known about Trump's opposition to the agreement on aid to Ukraine
Currently, according to The Hill journalists, the Republican Party representatives in the US Senate, who are in favour of approving the aid financing to Ukraine, call on the supporters of ex-president Donald Trump not to block this agreement.
This week, the chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee, Ernst, asked colleagues who supported the former president in the current campaign to ask him to refrain from criticizing the future deal until lawmakers can study its details.
Ernst and other Republicans are concerned that Trump will block a bill aimed at helping Ukraine and improving border security before the deal's text is made public.
Republican Senators James Landford and Kevin Cramer said that a deal on border security with Mexico, which provides for continued aid to Ukraine, should be concluded now.
At the same time, Republican Senator Mitt Romney called Trump's position regarding the agreement on financing aid to Ukraine "terrible."
Trump responded to Romney's remarks and said Republicans should "reject anything short of a perfect deal, even if it pushes the country into a temporary shutdown."
