The US State Department predicts the strengthening of Ukraine's position in the criminal war unleashed by Russia thanks to the joint, powerful help of Western partners.

What is known about the US plan for Ukraine's victory in the war

As President Biden said, we will help Ukraine win. Therefore, this is a strategic goal, — said the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien during a speech at the German Marshall Fund think tank.

He emphasised that this could be achieved thanks to Ukraine's financial support from the US and European partners.

O'Brien reminded that the EU countries should approve the allocation of 50 billion euros of aid to Ukraine as part of the budget review.

In particular, the representative of the State Department added that last week, during the meeting of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, with the Secretary of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, the certainty that this decision will be approved was confirmed.

EU leaders are expected to discuss the issue at a summit next week.

There are ups and downs on our end, but I will say two things. There is huge support for Ukraine in both houses of Congress. The only problem is when the leaders will be ready to put it to a vote. And as the US Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs, I would only say that every day people fight and die to protect their security and ours. And I think now is the time for us to be there for them moving forward, O'Brien said.

The Pentagon calls on Congress to approve funding for aid to Ukraine

The spokeswoman of the US Department of Defense, Sabrina Singh, called on US lawmakers from both parties to support the US president's request for additional funding for aid to Ukraine.

The United States has been unable to provide aid packages since December. Therefore, we will continue to urge Congress to approve the request both publicly and privately in our meetings," Singh said.

She emphasised that the American military is concerned about the Kremlin's search for support for the war launched by Russia against Ukraine from North Korea and Iran.

Singh also expressed concern about delays in providing military aid to Ukraine.

However, I will say, and this is important, that not only the US is supporting Ukraine now. Our allies and partners have stepped up, in terms of training, funding and support. So it's not just the United States," the Pentagon spokeswoman emphasised.
