The suspicion was reported to the director of a private enterprise that supplied the Armed Forces of Ukraine with low-quality clothing worth UAH 25 million.

The entrepreneur supplied bogus uniforms to AFU

Under the procedural guidance of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office in the field of defence of the Central region, the director of a private enterprise was informed of the suspicion of appropriation of budget funds in massive amounts (Chapter 5 of Article 191 of Ukraine's Criminal Code).

The Office of the General Prosecutor announced this on Facebook.

According to the investigation, at the end of 2022, the suspect concluded a contract with one of the military units in the city of Kyiv for the supply of winter uniforms for defenders of Ukraine. Funds for providing clothing for the Armed Forces units were allocated based on the KCMA's [Kyiv City Military Administration — Ed.] decisions from the local administration's budget.

It was established that the delivered clothing was of poor quality, did not meet the approved technical conditions and could not be used for its intended purpose in the Armed Forces.

As a result of the suspect's illegal actions, more than UAH 25 million in damages were caused to the state.

Currently, he has been remanded in custody.

The investigators of the National Police Main Department carried out the pre-trial investigation in Kyiv under the operational support of the local National Police.

Umierov announced new criminal cases regarding MOD schemes

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umierov, said that news about detentions and criminal cases, which Ukrainians have been seeing lately, are changes that will be noticeable more and more often.

According to him, one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defense team is to clean the system from unscrupulous participants — inside the institution and outside.

We are actively working on this — in close cooperation with law enforcement agencies, we eradicate manifestations of corruption. The system resists, but we will overcome it.

The internal audit of the Ministry of Defense and the updated MOD General Inspection have started work.

They have already discovered a lot of breaches — in the last four months, more than 10 billion breaches that were committed before. We react harshly to all cases. We closely cooperate with law enforcement officers and special services.
