According to the Ministry of Defense chief Rustem Umierov, the department is currently discussing the issue of changing individual commanders, but no decisions have been made yet.
What is known about the probable release of Tarnavskyy and Naiev
There are issues that were transitional before I was appointed as a minister. We are all in constant contact with the General Staff and I communicate with all the commanders, if such things happen, then they happen on issues that have either been raised before or are being discussed in order for us to achieve greater efficiency, Umierov explained, answering questions about the possible dismissal of Serhiy Naiev from the position of Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Oleksandr Tarnavskyy from the position of Commander of the operational-strategic group of troops "Tavria".
The head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that he currently considers it a challenge to bring the Armed Forces into full compliance with NATO standards.
And for Ukraine's partners, it is important that we communicate in the same language, because we want to "join NATO and these standards are very important," Umierov said.
He noted that the discussion of the replacement of commanders takes place according to all parameters.
And the topic that concerns the change of commanders, it goes through all the parameters that we discuss internally in our perimeter. That is, in this regard, I must say that the decision has not been made yet, but we are doing everything possible to increase efficiency. If this happens, we will always communicate about it very openly, Umierov emphasized.
Is Umierov preparing the release of Naev and Tarnavskyy
According to "Ukrainian Pravda" journalists, Defense Minister Rustem Umierov is preparing an application for the dismissal of the commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Tetyana Ostashchenko, the commander of the "Tavria" Operational-Strategic Group of troops Oleksandr Tarnavskyy and the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Naiev.
Paramedics and volunteers involved in the medical support of the Defense Forces insisted on Ostashchenko's release.
The sources did not inform about the reasons for the probable dismissal of Tarnavskyy and Naiev.
At the same time, Naiev may become one of the leading figures in the case concerning the defence of the Kherson region in 2022.
