On New Year's Eve, explosions were heard in the centre of occupied Donetsk. The Russian occupiers claim that the Donbass Palace Hotel, where the Russian occupiers and the local "elite" were celebrating, came under fire.

What is known about the new explosions in Donetsk

Around midnight, the so-called "head of the DPR" Denis Pushilin announced a massive shelling of the centre of Donetsk with multiple rocket launchers. Later, he reported that four people were killed and 13 others were injured in the shelling.

Alexey Kulemzin, a "top-official" of the occupation authorities in Donetsk, also wrote about the shelling of the occupied city. He wrote that the shelling destroyed the Donbass Palace hotel, a school and residential apartment buildings.

The Russian occupiers are again accused of shelling the Ukrainian military.

Propaganda media reported that four people were allegedly killed in air strikes in the centre of Donetsk. Another 13 were injured.

Several Russian propagandists began to actively replicate this message. It stated that a soldier had allegedly been killed in Donetsk. They also said that there were wounded journalists.

Attack on Belgorod: what is known

On the morning of 30 December, Russian media began reporting on the alleged shelling of the Russian city of Belgorod. More than 40 houses and 60 cars were reportedly damaged.

Security and defence forces have launched a missile attack on military facilities in Belgorod, Russia.

According to intelligence sources, this is a response to Russian attacks on Ukraine.

These are joint events that resulted from the barbaric shelling of Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa and the killing of civilians. The events are ongoing, the source said.

The defence forces were working on Russian military facilities in the Belgorod region, but due to "unprofessional actions and planned provocations" by Russian air defence, the debris fell in the city centre.

After the explosions, according to the Russians, 10 fires broke out in the city, and an air raid was declared and people were asked to go to shelters.

After the Russian air defence operation, the local authorities announced the deaths and injuries among the civilian population.
