Maloney claims Trump is spreading lies about her
The scandal erupted after the US president's high-profile interview with the Italian TV channel La7.
During it, Donald Trump said that Maloney begged him for a photo at the G7 summit in Evian.
She must be glad I talked to her. I didn't have to talk to her…She begged me to take a picture with her! She wanted to take a picture with me so badly. I wouldn't have done it, but I felt sorry for her.

Against the backdrop of recent events, the Italian leader published an address on her social media, in which she refuted Trump's words.
Donald Trump's statements are completely fabricated. I am, frankly, shocked. I do not know why the President of the United States behaves this way towards his allies: besides, this is not the first time.

In addition, Maloney drew attention to the fact that Trump is not so decisive in relations with the enemies of the United States.
"I can only say that it is disappointing that he does not show the same determination towards the enemies of the West and the United States, whose leaders he treats with much more leniency. There is one thing he must remember: neither I nor Italy ever beg," the Italian leader added.
